Since this is a commercial site, our team arrived early (at 6:30am) to start the job. This allowed us to be in and out before the facility opened, minimizing disruption to their day.
Because of the number of bends and curves in the dryer's duct work, our team used the HEPA vacuum on the interior for the first cleaning, then switched it to the exterior. A technician was able to push compressed air through the exhaust vent, where it was removed by the vacuum at the other end. This allowed our techs to target trapped fiber and lint from both sides of the vent, loosening and removing it. In order to push air through the ductwork, our techs use a long, flexible rod that can be inserted into the ducts and controlled manually. Different types of nozzles and attachments are used, including a "whip," which uses a number of short, soft hoses to sweep and loosen debris. While whips are not typically used for residential dryer vents, commercial dryer vents are much larger, making the whip an ideal tool for cleaning.
Frequently used dryers, both in commercial and residential buildings, benefit greatly from regularly scheduled cleanings.
